Assaults began after another police officer called the victim “hot” – (credit: material provided to Correio)
A video circulating on social media shows two military police officers involved in a general confusion inside a bar in Samambaia Sul. The footage was captured by a regular at the establishment, and took place at the beginning of the night of last Friday (23/9), during the game of the Brazilian team. The moment when the policeman pulls her hair and hits the woman’s face is at the beginning of the filming. Look:
The riot started when a military police officer, who was out of uniform and has not yet been identified (in the images with a gray outfit), called Karolayne Santana, 27, “hot”. The victim’s husband, Hugo Kaczan, 27, retorted the attitude. Both got into an argument, at which time Hugo gave the finger to the military man in gray, who went to demand satisfaction. According to witnesses, to whom the report spoke, he was visibly intoxicated and sitting at a table with other police officers. In the images, the policeman in black is the one who appears beating the woman.
“We were on the second floor when we went down to pay the bill. Before, as it was my birthday, she (Karolayne) went to surprise me. She went to get the cake, we sang happy birthday, and we agreed to eat at home. On the way out, he (policeman) called my wife ‘hot’. I snapped at him, but he continued. I gave him a finger and we started to argue. That’s how it all started,” he says.
PMs would be on duty
To Mail, the victims reported that the police officers were uncharacterized, but on working hours. “After the guy in gray harassed my wife, another guy in black, who is also a police officer, came along and punched me in the face. At another point, he pulls Karolayne’s hair and even punches my cousin,” he says.
In the footage, employees of the establishment try to remove everyone involved in the confusion. The policeman in gray was not sent to the police station, which caught the couple’s attention. “He was released on the spot, at Villa, by the military police. Looks like he had a colonel at the table. Why didn’t he do anything?” he asks.
After the riot, Karolayne and her husband went to the police station to file a report and sent them to the Instituto de Medicina Legal (IML) of the Civil Police of the Federal District (PCDF). The victim’s cousin preferred not to accompany the couple. The case is investigated by the 26th Police Station (Samambaia Norte).
Response from the Military Police and the bar
O Mail found that the policeman in black, who appears in the footage throwing punches and dragging the woman by the hair, is called David Ricardo Lima Nunes and is a sergeant of the corporation. When he was taken to the police station, he did not want to give a statement and informed the PCDF that he will only speak in court. The police officer also promised to appear at a hearing when summoned. The man in grey, however, has not been identified.
In a note, the Military Police (PMDF) adviser informed that a team was called to attend to the occurrence and, in prompt service, took everyone involved to the area police station to investigate the facts. Asked about the measures against the policeman involved in the fight, the corporation reported that he was taken to the police station, however, he was not removed from the streets. “First, it is necessary to find out what happened,” said the PM’s note.
On social media, the Villa Butiquim bar stated that it repudiates any act of violence and aggression, especially the act of violence against women. “Violence against women, in all its forms, is unacceptable and must be repressed. Grupo Villa informs that it has provided and will provide all the clarifications within its reach to all the competent authorities responsible for investigating the case”.
