The motorcycle world is in mourning following the tragic death of Chrissy Rouse, a 26-year-old rider who was seriously injured in a race for the British Superbike Championship on the 2nd.

Rouse crashed on the first lap of Sunday’s race at Donington Park and was ‘inevitably hit’ by another driver. He suffered a serious head injury. The motorcyclist was placed in an induced coma before undergoing an emergency surgical procedure. Despite efforts, the British runner passed away, surrounded by his family, on Thursday afternoon.

MSVR is working with the police, coroner and Motorcycle Racing Control Board as they investigate the tragic accident. Rouse crashed during the third race of the Bennetts British Superbike Championship at Donington Park in Leicestershire on Sunday. The race was immediately stopped after the accident and he was treated on the track by the BSB medical team. The 26-year-old was then taken to the circuit’s medical centre, where he was placed in a coma before being transported to Queens Medical Centre/University Hospital in Nottingham.

His family expressed their ‘deep thanks for the support and best wishes they’ve received over the past few days’ and asked for privacy as they try to cope with their ‘devastating loss’. “They would like to thank all the marshals in attendance and medical services who provided such skill and care for Chrissy,” the team said of the family. “MSVR is now working with the coroner, police and motorcycling circuit control board to investigate all circumstances of this tragic accident. “Our deepest condolences are extended to Chrissy’s family, friends and team members.”
