Journalist and writer E. Jean Carroll, who publicly accused former President Donald Trump of raping her nearly 30 years ago, filed a civil complaint with the same complaint in a New York court this Wednesday.

Invoking the New York Adult Survivors Act, which went into effect this Wednesday, the author asks that the former President be tried by a jury, for the crime of injuries related to “rape and forcible touching”, demanding that Trump compensate for the damages, with a fine of indeterminate amount.

Carroll, 78, had already filed a defamation complaint against Trump after he denied the rape allegation, accusing him of making “false accusations” as well as derogatory comments about his appearance.

On her account on the social network Twitter, the author explained that this new lawsuit may “ruining Thanksgiving Day (which is celebrated this Wednesday in the USA) for the former President”but claims that this initiative may be relevant “to all women who have been grabbed, groped, harassed, pinched, pushed, attacked, discredited or dragged through mud by a powerful man”
