THE controversial photo was captured at the Trump International Golf Club, in Palm Beach, Florida, United States, earlier this month. In this one, Donald Trump poses with two other men: one is yet to be identified, but the other is about Joseph ‘Skinny Joey’ Merlino, former Philadelphia mob boss.
The image was revealed by The Philadelphia Inquirer, which highlights that the three are with the thumb up – in a ‘cool’ sign -, smiling (and wearing typical golf practice clothes).
In search of ‘explanations’, the newspaper shared the image with Donald Trump’s communication, asking for a comment. In response, a spokesperson stated: “President Trump takes countless pictures with people. That doesn’t mean he knows everyone he comes in contact with.”.
However, the official did not clarify whether Donald Trump knew Merlino, whether he knew he was in the presence of a former mafia boss, or whether he knew the man’s history.
Remember that, last November, former US President Donald Trump announced his third re-election for the White House and promised “Bring America Back”.
“In order to make America great and glorious again I am announcing tonight my candidacy for the Presidency of the United States,” said the billionaire at the time as he was applauded by a crowd at his Mar-a-Lago mansion in Florida. “There’s never been a movement like this in the world that rivals what we’ve managed to do. America’s comeback starts now“, he added.
Trump is the first politician to officially run for the 2024 presidential election.
