Jeff Molina has become the first active male UFC fighter to reveal that he is not heterosexual. He did not do that completely voluntarily, and the 25-year-old American is very disappointed about that.
Molina posted a message on social media after a video emerged online showing him having oral sex with another man. “I’m bisexual,” Molina says. “This was not the way I wanted to announce it, but that opportunity has now been taken away from me.”
Molina is competing in the flyweight and he’s certainly not looking forward to the crowd’s reaction. “In a sport like this, many fans are homophobic jerks,” said the American. “At this point in my career, I couldn’t see myself putting this out there yet. I want to be known for my achievements, not as the first bisexual fighter, and that will be gay fighter.’

“I’ve dated women all my life and pushed other feelings away, including when I was on high school was on the wrestling team,” Molina writes. “The thought that my friends, teammates and people I looked up to would look at me differently or treat me differently is something I didn’t want to imagine.”
On Twitter, Molina receives support from MMA fighter Chris Curtis, among others. “I get a lot of shit and hate thrown at me, but I get a similar amount of support. And that means a lot to me.’
Molina has made three appearances in the UFC so far, winning three times. He is currently suspended following an investigation into match betting involving his coach James Krause.
