Stock Car pilot dies after suffering a motorcycle accident in a bumpy BR in MG
The Stock Car pilot and entrepreneur Sérgio Ruas Camilo died early this Saturday (18) in Lavras (MG). He was hospitalized after suffering an accident on BR-265.
The death was confirmed in an official note released by the Brazilian Automobile Confederation.
According to the CBA, this Friday (17th), the pilot and businessman lost control of his motorcycle when going through a hole in the BR-265, in Lavras.
Ruas was rescued with fractures and hemorrhages. He was operated on, but succumbed to his injuries.
Uncle of pilot Thiago Camilo
Sérgio Ruas Camilo was the uncle, godfather and one of the biggest supporters of Thiago Camilo, one of the main drivers in the sport today. On social media, the nephew paid tribute to his uncle.
In an excerpt from the post, Thiago Camilo says: “I grew up watching my uncle speed up his car, ride a motorcycle, go downhill on a bicycle, compete on a jetsky and that would not change now at 63 years old. Right or wrong it was like that, and I enjoyed the risk and adrenaline. I have no doubt that a bit of my personality is due to his encouragement”.
The body was taken to São Paulo, where it will be buried. The wake takes place at Congonhas Cemetery, from 6 pm to 10 pm and on Sunday, from 6 am. Burial will be at 10:30 am.
BR-265 bumpy
At the beginning of this year, a group of users of the highway even made a crowdfunding to carry out an operation to fill holes in the highway.
The DNIT, National Department of Infrastructure and Transport, responsible for the highway, informed that it contracted emergency works for the BR-265 and that the works started this month. Still according to the organ, the teams continue to work on the improvements of the highway.
