The former US president predicted he will be arrested on Tuesday on charges of falsifying business records.
RT – If former US President Donald Trump is arrested next week, he will win the 2024 election with a “landslide victory,” tweeted Twitter owner Elon Musk on Saturday (18) in response to a clip from Fox News discussing the possibility of the former president being “handcuffed” and prosecuted by the New York City court system.
“If that happens, Trump will be re-elected in a landslide,” Musk said in the tweet, a response to a similar – albeit less emphatic – prediction by Canadian lawyer @thevivafrei.
The view that this scenario could bring the former reality TV star back to the White House is not uncommon and appears to be shared by Trump himself. He warned his followers of his impending arrest on Truth Social on Saturday, urging them to “speak out, take back our nation!” His post notes that the Manhattan District Attorney’s office is discussing security for such an eventuality, perhaps suggesting officials may be wary of the response from Trump supporters.

The former president’s anticipated indictment on what are expected to be campaign finance violation charges would be the first of its kind in US history. Even former President Richard Nixon was not prosecuted after he resigned from office following the Watergate scandal.
Trump’s attorney accused District Attorney Alvin Bragg, the Manhattan district attorney, of having “rigged” the legal system by leveraging a misdemeanor charge that federal prosecutors did not deem worthy of prosecution in a felony. If he is found guilty before November 2024, it could put him out of the White House.
When the FBI staged a night raid on Trump’s Mar-a-Lago, Fla., estate last summer, the New York Times expressed concern that the agency’s hard-nosed tactics would galvanize the former president’s base, with election turmoil resulting in not only allowing the Republicans to seize control of Congress, but handing Trump the 2024 nomination on a silver platter.
Although Republicans retook the House of Representatives, the midterm elections fell short of the partisan defeat expected by many on the right, with the Senate remaining in Democrat hands. While incumbent President Joe Biden’s approval ratings are near record lows, even among those in his own party, most polls that pit him against Trump show Biden ahead by a few points. An arrest could easily push Trump to the top, according to Musk and many others.
