Dr. Shawky Allam – Mufti of the Republic, Head of the General Secretariat of Fatwa Authorities and Roles in the World – and Dr. Gamal Soussa, President of Benha University, signed a protocol of cooperation between Benha University and the Egyptian Dar al-Ifta, in the fields of training and research, as well as cooperation in holding seminars, conferences and workshops to discuss Common issues, foremost of which are issues of renewing religious discourse, combating extremist ideology, promoting a culture of difference and tolerance, spreading true religious awareness among young people, and consolidating a culture of cooperation and dialogue between male and female students.

Dr. Shawky Allam, Mufti of the Republic, said that Benha University is an edifice that bears the burden of the scientific thesis, and contributes to building the awareness of male and female students. Which puts them on the right path to move towards building the nation on the grounds that the basis in the process of construction and development is the formation of awareness. He added, stressing that the protocol comes within the framework of the fruitful cooperation between Dar Al-Ifta and various state institutions.

He added that this important cooperation between the Egyptian Dar Al Iftaa and Benha University will have a great positive impact on society in building awareness, correcting concepts and combating extremist thought. Which leads to the stability and security of society.

He stressed that academic education is very important, but it must be followed by qualification and training that refines him with the necessary skills, which is what we are keen on at the Egyptian Dar al-Ifta.

Dr. Gamal Soussa, President of Benha University, expressed his happiness at signing this protocol, which opens the way for exchanging experiences with Dar Al-Ifta in various fields, contributing to community service and building youth awareness.

He stressed that the issue of building correct awareness requires the concerted efforts of all institutions, whether religious or educational; The aim is to build a generation that understands the issues of its country and is able to face challenges.

Sousse pointed out that the protocol includes the cooperation of Benha University and Dar al-Ifta in organizing lectures, training programs and workshops to develop knowledge in common issues among the affiliates of both the university and the Ifta, in addition to holding conferences and scientific seminars concerned with societal issues, especially issues of confronting extremist ideology and renewing religious discourse. As well as cooperation in preparing studies and scientific encyclopedias concerned with common and societal issues and issues.

The signing ceremony of the protocol was witnessed by Major General Abdel Hamid Al-Hagan, Governor of Qalyubia, who announced his happiness at signing this protocol, stressing the importance of fruitful cooperation between Benha University and Dar Al-Ifta in order to achieve the goals of the state, serve the community and contribute to the formation of youth awareness.

The protocol signing ceremony was attended by a number of Dar Al-Ifta leaders, headed by Dr. Ibrahim Najm, advisor to the Mufti of the Republic, and Dr. Owaidah Othman, Secretary of Fatwa at Dar Al-Ifta. A number of Benha University leaders also attended, headed by Dr. Nasser El-Gizawy, Vice President for Graduate Studies and Research, Dr. Tamer Samir, Vice President for Education Affairs, and Dr. Mahmoud Iraqi, Supervisor of the Community Service and Environment Sector, along with Dr. Reda Abdel Halim, Dean Faculty of Law, Dr. Muhammad Al-Ashhab, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Dr. Mahmoud Zabalawi, Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture, and Sherine Shawky, Secretary General of the University.

It is worth noting that the protocol signed between the Egyptian Dar al-Iftaa and Benha University included the agreement that the two parties would cooperate in organizing lectures, training programs and workshops to develop knowledge and refine skills in common topics and issues of their affiliates from the issuers of fatwas, university professors and students, administrators and technicians in their various specializations, as well as a contract Conferences and scientific seminars concerned with common and societal issues and issues, especially in the field of confronting extremist ideology, renewing religious and fatwa thought, and issues of sustainable development and digital transformation.

It was also agreed to cooperate in the preparation of scientific studies and encyclopedias concerned with common and societal issues and issues, as well as the exchange of publications, research, and journals, as well as the minutes of seminars and conferences that the two parties undertake on a regular basis.
