The summer transfer season in all European leagues ended with great excitement in the moments before the end of the Mercato, amid moves that made the negotiations resemble the Champions League finals.
The recent moves came in the summer Mercato, from the top European continent, to compensate for the numerical shortage in the list, and some to achieve financial gains or get rid of huge salaries for players.
The last day of the Mercato witnessed the success of the Brazilian star Marcelo in saving his sports career, after leaving Real Madrid, by moving to Olympiakos of Greece in a transfer deal.
Turkish Fenerbahce kidnapped Belgian striker Michy Batshuayi from Chelsea, for 3.5 million euros, and Paris Saint-Germain settled the re-deal with Valencia midfielder Carlos Soler for 18 million euros.
Manchester City announced the signing of Swiss defender Manuel Akanji, German defender Borussia Dortmund, for 17.5 million euros.
The most important deal was the transfer of Gabonese Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang from Barcelona to Chelsea for 12 million euros, and the Blues kidnapped Swiss midfielder Denis Zakaria from Juventus for 3 million euros.
And Liverpool suddenly signed Brazilian midfielder Arthur on loan from Juventus for one season, for 4.5 million euros.
In a big surprise, Brazilian winger Willian returned to the English Premier League through the Fulham gate in a free transfer deal, after his contract with Corinthians was terminated.
Barcelona succeeded in signing Arsenal’s right-back Hector Bellerin in a transfer deal after the latter terminated his contract with the Gunners, in addition to the Spanish left-back Marcos Alonso for Chelsea for free as well.
In the last moments of the Mercato, the troubled Italian star Mario Balotelli continued his surprises by leaving the Turkish Istanaspor to the Swiss Sion in a deal worth 2.6 million euros.
