Cairo – Mubasher: The Ministry of Planning and Economic Development announced that the objectives of the supply and internal trade sector in the plan for the current fiscal year 22/2023 include ending the coding and stamping project, and expanding the processing of logistic areas in the governorates to stimulate and encourage investment in the internal trade sectors “wholesale and retail”, in addition to completing the development of commercial registry offices At the level of the governorates of the Republic, linking them electronically and automating services.

This came in a report issued by the ministry on the objectives of the supply sector and internal trade in the plan for the current fiscal year 22/2023.

Hala Al-Saeed, Minister of Planning and Economic Development, said that the supply and internal trade sector is of particular importance due to its role in providing food security, creating a strategic stockpile of basic commodities, and ensuring the regularity of supplying commodities in markets through supply chains.

Al-Saeed added that the strategy for the development of the supply and internal trade sector includes several axes represented in the formation of a strategic stock of goods, the regularity of their provision and presence in the markets, with the expansion of the establishment of logistic and commercial centers and supply and supply chains, and the increase in the number of supply goods offered at the ports, in addition to following up the implementation of the system Selling subsidized bread in all governorates of the Republic, as well as strengthening the role of supervisory bodies in the markets, continuous development of supply offices, and developing plans to expand local production and import to fill the existing gaps.

With regard to the objectives of the 2023/22 plan, the report of the Ministry of Planning indicated the most important projects to be completed, which are the development of supply offices to achieve the desired goals within the framework of the state policy as a national project. A plan was drawn up over three years with a total of 995 million pounds to develop (11) catering directorates , (287) supply management, and the development of (183) supply offices nationwide, in three phases – the first phase at a cost of 421 million pounds, the second phase at a cost of 414 million pounds, and the third phase at a cost of 160 million pounds.

The report pointed to an increase in the storage capacity of wheat in silos from 1.2 million tons in 2014 to 3.4 million tons in storage capacity until 2021. It is also expected to increase the storage capacity in silos in 2022 to reach approximately 3.6 million tons.

The report pointed to the sector’s achievements in 2021, as the volume of imported wheat supplies reached 5.5 million tons, while the volume of local wheat supplies reached 3.5 million tons, and rice self-sufficiency was 100%, and the total number of beneficiaries from the disbursement of food commodities reached 64 million. In addition, 81 thousand ration cards were issued for the first time for the most vulnerable and low-income groups, bringing the total to 480,5 thousand cards, and about 20,000 ration cards were issued for families entitled to the “solidarity and dignity” pension that were not included in catering. With regard to the subsidized bread system, the number of beneficiaries of subsidized bread has reached 72 million.

The report added that the implementation of two silos at a cost of 525 million pounds was completed, bringing the total to 76 silos, and the total new investments in (11) projects for commercial and logistic areas and commercial chains amounted to about 37.5 billion pounds, as two logistic areas were completed during 2021 at a cost amounted to 10.5 billion pounds, while four strategic warehouses were completed in the governorates of Sharkia, Suez, Fayoum and Luxor, as well as the development of 44 consumer complexes at a cost of 33.7 million pounds, bringing the total of developed complexes to 105, and 17 consumer complexes are still being developed, in addition to To the opening of 883 new outlets for the “My Society” project, which contributed to the creation of about 2,650 job opportunities.

As for the mobile car project, it included 110 cars, providing 330 job opportunities, at a cost of 5 million pounds, and switching from manual systems to working with an integrated automated information system to achieve commitment and discipline in the distribution of food commodities.

The report pointed to the development of 35 service centers, bringing the total to 315 centers, and the completion of the supply and installation of devices for the national project to digitize gold and precious metals by laser.
