Dakhla – The participants in the work of the consultative meeting on the national dialogue on reconstruction and housing, which was hosted on Wednesday by the state headquarters of the Dakhla-Oued Eddahab region, called for contributing to the formulation of new policies for reconstruction and housing and keeping pace with them at the local level.
A statement from the Urban Agency of Dakhla-Oued Eddahab stated, today, Thursday, that the work of this regional consultative meeting focused on four thematic workshops, during which the participants (heads of external interests, professors researchers, and actors in the sector) discussed various problems related to urban and urban planning and the provision of adequate housing for various sectors. Community layers.
In the first workshop, “Planning and Governance,” the various interventions unanimously agreed on the importance of the issue of planning, especially in a regional context characterized by spatial transformation.
The participants stressed the importance of sector governance, by presenting a set of recommendations that would raise the level of sector governance as a tributary of the national economy.
This workshop also constituted an opportunity for the participants to consult and exchange views on ways to give answers to the constraints that the planning system must raise and to download the new principles and goals included in the report of the new development model, as well as to keep pace with the unprecedented dynamism defined by the territorial area of the region.
In this regard, they called for the adoption of a renewable territorial planning system that takes into account the various issues and the peculiarities and character of the region, in order to effectively cope with the challenges at hand.
With regard to the second workshop, “Housing Offer,” the discussion focused on ways to achieve a new pattern of housing production in the Dakhla-Oued Eddahab region, taking into account the local specificities to become a lever for sustainable dynamics, raise the attractiveness of the region and confront the shortage in housing production.
As for the third workshop, “Supporting the Rural World and Reducing Spatial Disparities,” the participants approached, by studying and analyzing, ways and conditions for achieving a real economic take-off for the rural world, raising human development indicators in it, and making the rural world one of the tributaries of the Kingdom’s economic and social development.
During the work of this workshop, the possibilities of optimal utilization of the qualifications of the rising rural centers and the methods of giving a strong impetus to their development were discussed.
As for the fourth workshop, “Improving the urban landscape and the built framework”, the participants unanimously agreed on the importance of adopting a comprehensive approach to intervention that revolves around the objectives of enhancing architectural quality and the urban landscape, preserving heritage and achieving and strengthening the objectives of economic and social development, by upgrading the built framework as a mechanism That guarantees decent living conditions for citizens, increases the attractiveness of cities, and limits all types of unsuitable housing.
It should be noted that the National Dialogue on Urbanization and Housing is an initiative launched by the Ministry of Territory Preparation, Urbanization, Housing and City Policy, on September 16, under the High Patronage of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, with the aim of establishing a national frame of reference for a transparent, equitable, sustainable and stimulating urban development .
