One of the most prominent surprises of the Red Sea International Film Festival is the presentation of the first promotional advertisement for the new Saudi film “Hawjan”, a film adapted from the novel “Hawjan” by Ibrahim Abbas, which was published more than ten years ago in Saudi Arabia, and sparked controversy. The film is scheduled to be released in cinemas. Cinemas across the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia during the year 2023.
The film is starring a group of Saudi artists, including Nour Al-Khadra, who plays the role of “Sawsan”, and she talked about it to my lady’s camera, saying: “Sawsan is a soft but strong character, and I was very attached to the work and the role, and I am excited to share it with you.”
As for the actor Nayef Al-Dhafiri, he talked about his expectations for the movie and said: The novel was very successful, so the movie will be highly rated, and my expectation is that it will succeed as well.
Likewise, the actor Baraa Alem, who spoke to Madam’s camera, saying: “A house will be inhabited by humans.” With these sentences, the film begins and I was very attracted to the fact that through the film we change the stereotype about the jinn.

The Crow’s Song at the Red Sea Festival

The Saudi film “The Crow’s Song” is still echoing after it was shown for the first time at the Red Sea International Film Festival. The film is directed and screenplayed by Muhammad Al-Salman, and produced by Ahmed Musa, Muhammad Al-Qarawi, Mujahid Al-Juma’a, and with the participation of Asim Al-Awwad, Ibrahim Al-Khairallah, Abdullah Al-Jaffal.
The story of the film revolves around when he is diagnosed with cancer, Nasser’s life becomes hell, and only the new, captivating girl who controls his obsessions can save him. He lives resisting his illness, hoping to win her love. And while he faces the darkness of death, he finds no escape from surgical intervention, the outcome of which cannot be predicted. All these struggles interact in his heart and mind together; The eternal question baffles him: Do love songs save us from being preoccupied with death?
Madam, I met the director and author of the film, Muhammad Al-Salman, and he said: If we look at the film, we can see it as simple, and the story line is clear, but the details we provided make you watch it again.
Madam also met with the film’s protagonists, including Asim Al-Awwad, who described the character of “Nasser” in the film, how the events developed and the obstacles facing him. As for the father’s character in the film, which was played by the actor Abdullah Al-Jafal, he talked about the character, which he described as a character full of different habits on which he bases his actions.
As for Ibrahim Al-Khairallah, he described the film as different and how it describes a character whose reality and dreams contradict each other. He said: The film is beautiful and the director is creative, and we all believe in what he presents.
