MADRID, September 19 (EUROPA PRESS) –

Taiwan authorities reported this Tuesday that they have detected another 55 aircraft and seven ships of the Chinese Armed Forces in its vicinity during the last 24 hours as the Asian giant increases its pressure on the island.

The Taiwanese Ministry of Defense has indicated in a statement that this is a new “provocative action” by Beijing that has led to an “increase in tension and a deterioration in security at the regional level.” Thus, he has asked the Chinese authorities to “immediately” stop any unilateral action that risks “altering the status quo.”

These incursions occur a day after Taipei reported the presence of more than 100 fighter jets near the island while the Asian giant insists on considering the island as another province under its territory.

Beijing had not commented on the presence of these planes until this week, when Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning reaffirmed Beijing’s position on Taipei belonging to China. In this sense, she has pointed out that the so-called “middle line” of the Taiwan Strait “does not exist.”
