«We were at home and we felt a powerful explosion. And after the roar, the noise of falling glass. The closest neighbors even felt a strong tremor. Fortunately, no one has been injured.” This is how Alberto Muro, president of the Ibiza Beach development, recounted the shock experienced this Tuesday afternoon at number 40 Vuit d’Agost Avenue, in Vila.
Minutes before 5:00 p.m., an explosion burst an apartment located on the fourth floor. After being alerted to the event, two Firefighters were mobilized to the scene with two vehicles – a Heavy Urban Pump (BUP) and a ladder vehicle – several units of the Local Police and two 061 ambulances.
The firefighters entered the house through the balcony and verified that no one was inside.
The explosion ripped out several doors and shattered the windows. Initial investigations suggest that the explosion originated in a washing machine that could contain some type of chemicals.
