Sánchez does not foresee elections and says that he will speak clearly about the amnesty after being a candidate for the investiture
The acting president of the Spanish Government, Pedro Sánchez, has assured that he is not contemplating a repeat election, that all his plans involve working for a progressive Executive and that he will speak clearly about demands such as amnesty when he receives the task of attempting his inauguration. Sánchez made these considerations in an informal conversation with journalists covering his participation in various events in New York within the framework of the beginning of the new period of sessions of the UN General Assembly.
The Chief Executive has stressed that he is reasonably optimistic about reaching an agreement that will allow him to be invested and that this is his plan a, b and c, for there to be a progressive coalition government because he believes that the numbers are there for it. But he has insisted on respecting the times because he now believes that it is the turn of the leader of the PP, Alberto Núñez Feijóo. It will not be until that moment when he will talk about possible negotiations and demands from political groups such as Junts regarding an amnesty, which informants have asked him about.
He has made no progress in this regard, but he has assured that throughout the investiture process he will guarantee respect for the constitutional framework. An argument that he has reiterated when asking whether he will demand that the pro-independence parties renounce the path of unilateralism in exchange for processing the amnesty.
Regarding the process to consider Catalan, Basque and Galician as official languages in European institutions, Sánchez considered it very important to have started a process of recognition of them. He has emphasized that Spain has offered to assume the cost and has rejected the fact that some of those languages are being relegated, although he has justified prioritizing Catalan due to the number of its speakers. Sánchez considers the attitude of the Vox deputies by leaving the translation headset typical of the way of acting of the extreme right on the seat of the President of the Government and believes that the person who is left in the wrong is the PP.
