That is the topic of “Maybrit Illner” on September 1st

“Traffic lights under pressure – no strategy in the energy crisis?”

According to Chancellor Scholz, the relief should be tailor-made, targeted and efficient. Finance Minister Lindner promises a “heavy package”. When it will come and for whom – that is also open after the cabinet meeting. So far, only the prices for gas have been “heavy” and now also for electricity. To make matters worse, the two are linked to one another. Only the EU can change that. How fast is that possible? When and how will the traffic light parties agree on the long-awaited relief package number 3?

Ricarda Lang and Christian Dürr are guests at Maybrit Illner. The Greens party leader and the leader of the FDP parliamentary group in the Bundestag are discussing with climate protector Luisa Neubauer, NRW Labor and Social Affairs Minister Karl-Josef Laumann (CDU) and journalist Eva Quadbeck, deputy editor-in-chief and head of the capital city office of the editorial network Germany (RND).

The show has been running for over 20 years

Since 1999, Maybrit Illner has been conducting her talk show on political issues once a week. Until 2007, the program ran under the name “Berlin Mitte”. With the renaming to “Maybrit Illner”, the length of the talk show was increased from 45 to 60 minutes.

The fact that Illner does not moderate a program himself is a rarity. This was the case for the last time in December 2020: Illner was replaced by Mathias Fornoff.

In the course of the Corona crisis, ZDF temporarily broadcast several special programs on Sunday evenings. The talk show competed with “Anne Will”, which caused trouble between the TV stations.

This is Maybrit Illner

Before the native East Berlin took over the moderation of “Berlin Mitte” in 1999, she was part of the moderation team of the ZDF morning magazine. From 2010 to 2012, in addition to her talk show, she also moderated the heute-journal, alternating with Claus Kleber and Marietta Slomka. From 2013, however, Illner focused mainly on her talk show again.

Incidentally, she took her first journalistic steps as a sports journalist after studying journalism at the Karl Marx University in Leipzig shortly before reunification in the former GDR.
