CARLO ANCELOTTI on…
…the 2-1 win over Betis Sevilla: “We started the season well. But the game was very difficult. We struggled to get the ball back because Betis had a lot of possession. It was difficult, but later we played very well, very vertical, good combinations. We just often lacked precision in the last pass and in the finish. But we created a lot of chances and in the end we deserved to win. It wasn’t easy because Betis play good football, but we knew that beforehand.”
…the question of how difficult it could be for Marco Asensio and Eden Hazard to play: “It’s difficult to answer that. I know I can count on her, that’s enough for me. I don’t know how many minutes they will play. Every game has its story and the players I brought today came because I wanted to bring more energy into the centre. I substituted Rüdiger at the end to have more stability in header duels. Toni Kroos and Dani Ceballos played better in a one-on-one because they have a lot of quality in attack. There was no need to bring Hazard or Asensio because we were 2-1 up.”
