Horst Reiter died at the age of 84.

For more than half of his life, Reiter was a volunteer at VfL Oldesloe. Coaches and players came and went – he stayed. And will be remembered by the club forever.

Bad Oldesloe. For decades he was one of the most influential faces of VfL Oldesloe. Horst Reiter has now passed away at the proud age of 84. His death puts the Stormarn football club in deep mourning.

For a span of 50 years, Reiter was one of the first people that spectators saw when they went to the senior men’s home games. As a cashier, he sold the tickets on a voluntary basis and, according to the club, always had a “smile and a friendly word” for the visitors.

Helpful and humble

“He worked for our football department at VfL Oldesloe for five decades. He was also a very modest person and preferred not to be mentioned at awards or celebrations. You had to force a drink on him yourself in the hot summer,” revels VfL press officer Nico v. homes in memories.

Together with his wife and in later years with “Siggi” Sommerfeldt, Reiter was a real institution in the ticket booth of the Trave Stadium. With him, VfL Oldesloe not only lost an original of the club, but also a great person. “We look back proudly and with great gratitude to have had such a person in our ranks. Our sincere condolences go to his family,” said von Hausen.
