Heidelberg (ots) – The professional association for raw materials and chemical industry (BG RCI) awarded the rehabilitation prize for exemplary reintegration into working life for the fourth time this year. The main prize, worth EUR 10,000, went to Betomix BMA-Transportbeton GmbH & Co. KG in Aschaffenburg. The Friedhelm Am Ende technic-dress company from Glauchau in Saxony received the special prize, which is worth 2,000 euros. The award recognizes employers who are particularly committed to the professional reintegration of injured or ill insured persons.
In 2020, an employee of Betomix BMA-Transportbeton fell from an excavator and was seriously injured. So difficult that the trained fitter was unable to continue his previous job despite extensive medical treatment and rehabilitation measures due to the remaining consequences of the accident. Managing Director Andreas Büttner, who is the second generation to run the eight-person family business, made it possible for the employee to return to the company despite the permanent restrictions. Since then, he has been deployed flexibly according to his resilience, with his colleagues supporting him as needed. The purchase of a vehicle tailored to the individual requirements of the accident victim completes the outstanding commitment of the company, which was awarded first place in the 2022 rehabilitation prize.
The special prize went to Friedhelm Am Ende technic-dress, an upholstery company that specializes in technical sewing work and is located in the Zwickau district of Saxony. After an employee severely injured her right wrist when she fell on a metal grate in 2019, the entrepreneur of the small three-person company spared no effort to help the injured person to reintegrate. In addition to the procurement of technical aids, such as electric scissors for cutting the sometimes stiff materials, a device specially developed by the company owner, which makes it much easier to pierce the needle into the multi-layer material, is particularly noteworthy. This commitment and the special leather bandage provided to stabilize the wrist made it possible for the employee to return to her work as a seamstress promptly, despite her remaining restricted mobility.
