Emir of Qatar has three wives – one with special privileges

Since 2013, 42-year-old Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani has been the Qatari head of state with absolute governmental and legislative powers. As a child and teenager he was educated at the most exclusive schools in Europe. Among other things, he also attended the British Royal Military Academy in Sandhurst – like once did.

In his free time, Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani used to take tennis lessons from none other than Boris Becker. Today the Emir, about whom the former Foreign Minister Sigmar Gabriel once said “I have seldom met someone who listens with such great interest when people are talking about him, the world and how it moves”, loves Arabian horses, football and luxury -horses.

The Emir of Qatar and his wife are distant relatives

In addition to his government duties and numerous hobbies, the ruler should not be bored in his private life either. Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, whose net worth is estimated at at least €1.76 billion, has been married three times and has 13 children. He married his first wife Jawaher bint Hamad bin Suhaim Al Thani (38) in 2005. He married Sheikha Al-Anoud bint Mana Al Hajri in 2009, and married Noora bint Hathal ad-Dosari six years later.

As the first wife, Jawaher enjoys certain privileges, for example she can accompany her husband to important appointments abroad. Together they have two sons and two daughters. Jawaher himself comes from a royal and influential family. Her father was once Qatar’s prime minister. She is distantly related to her husband – they are second cousins.

The Arabian royal seems to be a great art lover and also likes to continue her education: In 2021 Jawaher completed her master’s degree in art science in Qatar.

When visiting Spain in 2022, Jawaher appeared publicly without a veil for the first time

Most recently, the royal accompanied her husband to the funeral of Queen Elizabeth II. Before that, her visit to Spain in May 2022 caused a stir in her own country. Because Jawaher attracted attention when meeting King Felipe (54) and Letizia of Spain (50) not only because of her chic ivory-colored Chanel coat and Hermes handbag. According to the internet portal The Arab Weekly, it was her first public appearance where she was seen without a veil. An impossibility in her home country of Qatar. Women are only allowed to appear in public fully veiled.

Compared to “The Arab Weekly”, experts also suspect that the succession to the throne could still cause explosives among the three women. Because in Qatar, the eldest son is not always necessarily appointed crown prince.
