Vienna has again been voted the unfriendliest city in the world in a survey of expats.
Apparently, the Viennese charm is not well received by international employees. In a survey of expats (people from abroad who work and live in Vienna), the Austrian capital has once again been voted the unfriendliest city in the world.
Top ten in quality of life
Although the city ranked in the top ten in the “Expat City Ranking 2022” by the organization “Internationals” in terms of quality of life, it ended up last again in the “Friendliness” category. “I don’t like how bad-tempered and unfriendly everyone is here,” said an expat from Sweden.
In the surveys by the organization Internations in previous years, Vienna cost the bad-tempered population a good overall result, reports the APA.
The ranking is based on the annual “Expat Insider” study, in which almost 12,000 employees worldwide took part this year. The report covers the areas of quality of life, adjustment, work, personal finances and the “Expat Basics” index, the digital infrastructure, administrative matters, housing and language.
Vienna was able to score in the categories “Travel & Transport” (first place) and “Health & General Well-being” (second place).
Valencia wins
However, expats described the people in the federal capital as unfriendly in general and as particularly negative towards the foreign population. According to the survey, 54 percent found it difficult to make friends with the Viennese.
The Spanish port city of Valencia was voted the most popular city among international workers, followed by Dubai and Mexico City.
