Accident in the port of Hamburg: In the morning, a ship belonging to the cruise line Aida Cruises collided with a quay wall. That has consequences.

When docking at the Steinwerder cruise terminal, the cruise ship “Aida Bella” rammed the quay wall on Thursday morning. The incident happened shortly after 8 a.m., a spokesman for the Hamburg police said on t-online. The onward journey was initially prohibited.

According to the first findings of the police, a technical defect was the cause of the accident. The collision caused a small crack in the fuselage of the “Aida Bella”, the spokesman said. There were no injuries.

According to the Hamburg Port Authority (HPA), there are no indications of water pollution as a result of the accident. The extent to which the wharf was damaged must now be clarified by specialists, an HPA spokesman told t-online. Appropriate investigations have been ordered.

Hamburg port: cruise of the “Aida Bella” is canceled for the time being

The incident has consequences for the passengers waiting in Hamburg: The 43-day trip to the Caribbean has been postponed. The cruise was supposed to start from Hamburg on Thursday evening at 6 p.m.

“For Aida Cruises, the safety of all guests and crew members is always the top priority.
