The Bochum police said that according to initial findings, the man should have threatened the officers with the knife. The police officers in turn are said to have used a so-called taser, a distance electric shocker.
To clarify the circumstances and processes, the police headquarters in Bochum took over the investigation. A police spokesman said, among other things, the injured party should hear officials and neutral witnesses. The taser was secured.
