Former US President Donald Trump apparently expects to be arrested next week. In a social media post, he called on his followers to protest on Saturday.
“Lead Republican nominee and former President of the United States will be arrested Tuesday next week,” Trump wrote on Truth Social on Saturday.
“Protest, take back our nation,” the Republican appealed, citing a “leak” in the New York City Attorney’s office in his post.

In his language, the appeal is reminiscent of Trump’s appeal at the time, which he made to his supporters shortly before the storming of the US Capitol on January 6, 2021.
Trump’s son Donald John “Don” Trump Jr. tweeted Saturday, “If they can take him down, then they’re one step closer to taking you and your liberties down… and apparently that was the plan all along.”
Who exactly the chairman of the “Trump Organization” means by “they” is not specified in the tweet.
Investigations against Trump for hush money payment to porn actress
Prosecutors are investigating a $130,000 hush money payment that Trump’s private attorney at the time, Michael Cohen, made to porn actress Stormy Daniels shortly before the 2016 presidential election.
Daniels, whose real name is Stephanie Clifford, says she had sex with Trump years before the election, which Trump denies.
The payment was apparently intended to prevent Clifford from going public, which could have harmed Trump during the election campaign. The cash flows may have violated campaign finance laws.
The former US President recently reported that he did not want to testify before a so-called grand jury in the hush money affair. Trump’s attorney, Joe Tacopina, said on US broadcaster ABC that there were “no plans to be involved in this process.”
Medvedev calls on Americans to stand up for ex-President Trump
Shortly thereafter, Russia’s former President Dmitry Medvedev called on the Americans to revolt because of the alleged imminent arrest. “Take back the country, Americans! To battle!” Medvedev wrote on his Telegram channel on Saturday.
How seriously the 57-year-old meant his demands remained unclear. He concluded his comment with what is probably ironically the fact that he wrote this at the request of the presidential candidate “Colonel Daniil Fyodorovich Trump”. He was probably alluding to speculation about the relationship between the former US President and the Kremlin.
In his text, Medvedev also addressed the arrest warrant issued by the International Criminal Court against Kremlin chief Vladimir Putin. “The idiots in Europe want to arrest a stranger, and on March 21 in America their own will be arrested,” Medvedev wrote.
Medvedev has attracted attention several times in recent months with extremely sharp and sometimes bizarre attacks on the West. Observers suspect that the politician, who was once considered more of a liberal, wants to give himself the image of a hardliner for a possible successor to Putin.
Should Trump actually be indicted, it would be the first time a former US President has been indicted.
