formula–1-Drivers expect the penalties to be adjusted
The Formula 1 drivers expect a change in the register of sins. “We are having a lot of discussions with the Fia (World Automobile Federation) to find a solution,” said Alpha Tauri driver Pierre Gasly before the penultimate Grand Prix of the year in São Paulo. The Frenchman currently has ten penalty points over twelve months, two more and he will automatically have to sit out the next race. Since the introduction of the current penalty regulations in 2014, Gasly would be the first driver to watch.
“I don’t feel like I’ve been particularly dangerous in the last 12 months and that would be a severe punishment,” he remarked. “Even if it’s not always about dangerous driving, the penalty certainly has a massive impact on the Constructors’ and Drivers’ Championships.”
Williams driver Alex Albon stated that he alone received three penalty points for crossing track limits. “So I got a lot of points that I don’t think I deserve at all. We’re discussing it and I think there will be a change,” Albon said.
