Yes, she is as good as blind now, the mother of five admitted to the Daily Mail.

“At first I only wanted to get an eye tattoo because I thought that if I went blind, at least I would still have the other eye,” said the 32-year-old law student.

Her little daughter warned her if she wanted to change her mind. “What if you go blind?” the little girl asked. But Amaya didn’t want to be swayed.

And so, in the summer of 2020, she had her right eye made with green ink. The result was very convincing to the mother of five at the time, although the freshly tattooed eye was constantly dry and she complained of severe headaches.

A few months later, the woman, who also models on TikTok, was overcome by the desire to have her other eye done as well. In December of the same year, the 32-year-old booked an appointment for the right eye, which was to be purple.

The next few months passed quite carefree, except for the headache and itchy eyes. Then the shock: When Anaya woke up one morning, her face was badly swollen. “I looked like I fought ten rounds with Mike Tyson.”

She immediately rushed to the hospital, the doctors did their best, says the 32-year-old, operating for hours under general anesthesia.

But the tattoo damage is done. The northern Irish woman with Jamaican roots will probably never be able to see properly again. Worse still, their eyesight is failing rapidly. Hundreds of thousands of vitreous opacities, so-called floaters, are already in their eyes, and the number is increasing every day. It is probably only a matter of time before her retina is completely dissolved by the ink and the 32-year-old becomes blind.

“If I hadn’t had my eyeballs tattooed, I wouldn’t have this problem. Even today, I woke up with more floaters in my eyes. And that’s dangerous,” she admitted.

But she also wants to see the positive: “I’ve recovered, so to speak – on the outside I’m recovered. It’s just on the inside. I’m basically on the verge of going blind,” she notes. As long as she can still see, Amaya Peterson plans to keep using TikTok to show off her extraordinary eyes to her many followers. A little over 30,000 people follow her on the platform.

But would she do it differently today? Yes and no – your answer is amazing.

“If I could go back in time, I would just get a black eye tattoo and leave it at that. Yes, I would have done a black one. Definitely that’s how I would have done it.”
