Qatar – The penultimate game of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar is coming up. Before the grand final between Argentina and France, Morocco and Croatia will play the match for third place. In the semi-finals, the Croatians had no chance against Argentina and also lost 3-0 at altitude. Modric and Co. were never able to build on the performance in the quarter-finals against Brazil and now have to be content with the small final.
World Cup 2022: Croatia and Morocco want third place
Morocco was the surprise of the World Cup in Qatar. The North Africans topped their group and eliminated Spain and Portugal en route to the semi-finals. In the round of the last four teams, the reigning world champion France was a size too big and so it is not enough to make it into the final. Morocco made history, however, because no team from the African continent has ever qualified for a World Cup semi-final.
“We have to be clear that this is a historic game for Croatia. Because no one can say when we will achieve something like this again. We have to take advantage of this opportunity on Saturday,” says Andrej Kramaric, motivated before the game for third place at the World Cup. “In 1998, as a kid, I was jumping around the streets with my friends and my parents. And now we have the opportunity to make people happy again,” continued the TSG Hoffenheim striker.
