louis delval puts the focus of the image of the day “Blacksmith in COPE” in the NNew approach of ETA prisonerswhich the Government has carried out, to the prisons of the Basque Country:
Two weeks to Christmas. And I will never forget that day. From Radio Zaragoza, a nervous female voice recounted that pieces of cribs, children’s bodies, and pieces of dolls were mixed among the debris from the explosion. Iñaki Gabilondo looked at me, and I quickly left the study to type furiously on the typewriter, with moist eyes and a sinking heart. I don’t know what I wrote. Yes, in the final paragraph it said that it was the Christmas of Christmas, the Christmas of blood and mourning that ETA sent, and that I was about to burst into tears.
Today I see one of the authors of that carnage, on the cover of ABC, and I no longer feel anger, just a feeling of disgustof disgust, but not to that murderer who planted bombs to destroy children who had committed the terrible crime of being the sons of civil guards, but disgust to the disgusting political interests, to the nauseating treatment between the PNV and the Prime Ministerto whom they don’t care what the ETA killers didbecause the PNV wants to scratch votes from the accomplices of Bilduand the president will commit any baseness in order to reinforce the majority that keeps him in the chair.
The murderer no longer produces any kind of emotion in me, or pity, or pity, or indignation at his lack of repentance, but what It urges me to vomit from the soul, it is this marketing, this business without compassionthis falsehood of those who seem moved by the crimes of more than eighty years ago, and they negotiate and deal with the pain and mourning of orphans and widows, who are alive, hurt by one more contempt for this camabalache, for this treatment, sticky yes, but nothing dark, because it is visible to everyone. And I am repulsed by the resignation of a judge who was brave, and the pot of lentils from a ministry has made him one more of the gang of insensitive, selfish, ambitious careerists, who jump over any iota of honesty. That the murderers, in no time, take to the streets, and receive tributes that deride those who will always mourn is disgusting and repugnant. But this so little honorable exhibition of those who we suspect that to achieve their goals would be able to sell their father is much more repugnant. And that is not erased even in a thousand press conferences.
