Iberia Express airline has preventively canceled two flights on the seventh day of the strike Of the cabin crew (TCP) called by USO, another five have suffered delays and ten have been operated by personnel from other companies to leave.

This is indicated by sources from the syndicated USO, convener of the mobilization, which details that the delayed flights have left Madrid (4) and Palma de Mallorca (1), while the canceled ones were destined for Mallorca and Gran Canaria, and in both cases on the outward and return journey.

Total, This Saturday 96 flights will operate, which represent 96% of those scheduled, while this Friday -the sixth day of the strike-, the 93 flights operated by Iberia Express passed without incident due to the strike and the few delays produced were not related to it.

In a statement, the airline has stated that the cancellation of these flights has the objective of protect customers on the last weekend of the return operation and to minimize the effects of the USO strike, which began on August 28 and will end on September 6.

All customers affected by these cancellations already have been relocated on other flights or alternative means of transport, adds Iberia Express, which has established a broad flexibility plan for all passengers who have a flight on strike days.

The delegate of USO in Iberia Express, Estefanía Diaz, has informed, in an audio sent to the media, that this Friday they met again with representatives of the company, but it was not a meeting “different from the previous ones”as “They refuse to negotiate if the strike is not called off and they claim over and over again the need to deal with the 6.5% rise in the 2021 CPI within the negotiating table, where they say it should be dealt with.”

In addition, he points out that “the company is removing non-protected flights with TCP related to it, since the main fear was that these flights could not leave, but finally it seems that they are leaving.”

On the part of the company, Iberia Express deeply regrets the inconveniences that this situation is causing on passengers and apologizes for it, they indicate in the statement, in which they ask the USO union to call off the strikes and return to the negotiating table ” to bet definitively on restoring social peace through a direct and sincere dialogue“.

It is very difficult to reach agreements under the pressure of a strike and, therefore, we invite you to cease the social confrontation and we are waiting for you in the framework of the negotiation table of the II Collective Agreement, where all your proposals and concerns are and will be heard”, they conclude from the airline.
