Santander AM is in the process of assembling a team for its new alternatives manager, which will be focused on private markets. A week ago the bank announced that it had obtained authorization from the CNMV for its constitution of this new area of Alternatives, which will be in the hands of Luis García-Izquierdo, its CEO, and that Borja Díaz-Llanos will have as director of investments.
As you may have learned FundsPeople Álvaro Bueso-Inchausti will also be in this team, as head of alternative products (Head of products). This professional joins Santander AM’s new alternatives manager from A & G, whom he hired a year ago as head of a new alternatives area. A position that David Nuñez has held since last week.
Prior to his time at A&G, Bueso spent the last five years as executive director at Altamar Capital Partners, within the private debt team, where he has worked since the entity launched its first private debt Fund of Funds in 2017. Prior to Altamar worked for four years in the infrastructure subsidiary of the ACS Group, Iridium, in the financial team, and previously in the Leverage Finance department at Caixabank Madrid and at Commerzbank in London. He is licensed by CUNEF.
Bueso thus joins a team that has been formed in recent years and that today has about 45 employees. Along with this professional, others who have recently joined the manager’s new project have been. Patrick Caffarena and Alfonso Sousa to their Madrid team.
What offer does the new manager start with?
The alternatives area is a strategic part of the manager’s business. Currently, they have a total of 22 vehicles and 2,000 million euros globally engaged. Within these products, it offers six strategies, among which are Trade Finance, Direct Lending, Infrastructure and Renewable Energy, Real Estate, VC Climate Tech and funds of funds.
