A rather particular event occurred in this edition of Roland Garros 2023, as two tennis players who met in the final of the previous phase will meet in the first round of the main draw, they are French Lucas Pouille and the austrian Jurij Rodionov. How did this situation come about?

The Frenchman was the one who prevailed in the decisive match of the previous phase with partial scores of 1-6, 7-5 and 6-0, keeping the place for the main draw; however, there were withdrawals from tennis players who had guaranteed their presence in the main draw, opening up three places for lucky losers.
