Latin music was very present in the MTV Video Music Awards 2023 thanks to several artists who were at the awards, among them, Karol G and Shakirawho had their share of prominence at the awards ceremony and also starred in one of the best moments of the night.
The two Colombian artists performed during the awards. The one from Barranquilla did a summary of his musical career in ten minutes of pure spectacle in honor of the award they gave him, the Vanguard Award. While the one from Medellín got up on stage to sing two of their new songs (“Oki Doki” and “Tá Ok”) in a great performance.
But in addition to these two great performances that the artists offered, they also had a great moment together when they won the ‘Best Collaboration’ award for their “TQG”.
To their surprise, the performers took this statuette and went up together hand in hand to collect it, where they expressed their pride in their Colombian roots. “Long live Barranquilla! Long live Medallo! And long live Colombia!” Shakira exclaimed, while her colleague, excited, said: “If collaborating with the legendary Shakira had been impressive, having an award with her is something of another planet”.
