
Four people died after a bus overturned, early on Friday (17), on the Régis Bittencourt Highway in Cajati, in the interior of São Paulo. They have already been identified by the Fire Department. At least 20 people were injured and taken to Dr. Leopoldo Bevilacqua, in Pariquera-Açú, and Hospital Regional de Registro. Sixteen are still receiving medical care.
According to the Regional Hospital Dr. Leopoldo Bevilacqua (HRLB/Consaúde), this Saturday morning (18), eight people remain in the unit. Two are admitted to the ICU, with conditions that require intensive care. Another six patients in a stable situation.
At the Hospital Regional de Registro, eight victims were treated, five of which remain hospitalized, four in stable condition and one in serious condition.
The bodies of the fatal victims were sent to the Instituto Médico Legal de Registro (SP), a city neighboring Cajati, which identified the victims, namely:
- Gabriele Dacoregio Kavecki, 16 years old, born in Porto União (SC)
- Wesley Tiago Schuster de Lima, 28 years old, born in Lapa (PR)
- Rodrigo Marcelo Vieira de Lima, born in Lapa (PR)
- Isadora Teixeira Barão, 7 years old, born in Lapa (PR)
Accident
A bus overturned on a curve at km 512, in Serra do Azeite, on the road towards São Paulo. The bus left Lapa, in the south of Paraná, and its destination was Aparecida, in the Paraíba Valley.
According to the Federal Highway Police (PRF), the bus list contains 50 passengers and 2 drivers. Four people died, including two men, a woman and a 7-year-old child, and at least 20 were injured.
The driver was not injured and told the police that he lost control on the curve and fell into the left lane. The bus landed on a guardrail. Also according to the PRF, the tourist bus had authorization from the National Land Transport Agency (ANTT).
