Al-Ahsa – Nawaf bin Alai Al-Jari
Yesterday, Wednesday, His Royal Highness Prince Saud bin Talal bin Badr, Governor of Al-Ahsa, inaugurated the auction of Al-Ahsa dates season 2022, in King Abdullah City for Dates, in the presence of the Deputy Minister of Environment, Water and Agriculture, Eng. Mansour Al-Mushaiti, and the CEO of the National Center for Palms and Dates, Dr. Muhammad Al-Nuwairan.
The inauguration came amid the integration and cooperation of the relevant government sectors, headed by the governorate, and the membership of (Al-Ahsa Municipality, King Faisal University, Al-Ahsa Chamber, the Public Irrigation Corporation, the Office of the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture, the Ministry of Commerce, Al-Ahsa Police, Palm Research Center, the National Center for Palms and Dates Food and Drug Authority, Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority branch in Al-Ahsa, General Authority for Statistics branch).
Meanwhile, His Highness stressed that the auction of Saram season of Al-Ahsa dates is one of the most important pillars that contribute to highlighting the various marketing and cultural dimensions associated with the production of dates in Al-Ahsa, as it is one of the most important and largest cities producing dates at the local and regional levels.
His Highness added that “this aspect would motivate everyone to enhance efforts and care for this product, in order to reach an optimal investment and achieve the highest levels of satisfaction for farmers and consumers, in addition to the positives that it will achieve for the economy of the region and the Kingdom in general.”
For his part, the Mayor of Al-Ahsa, Eng. Essam Al-Mulla, stated that the auction of the season of Sarram dates for Al-Ahsa dates in its current season 2022 will highlight and expand the scope of the dates market, work to attract more purchasing power to the auction, and better organize the selling mechanism, in addition to encouraging the production and processing sector of dates. To play its role in promoting the aspect of exchanging experiences and strengthening ties between farmers, producers and processors of dates.
Al-Mulla stressed the implementation of mechanisms used to receive farmers and the quantities of dates received in King Abdullah City, grouping vehicles and entering the auction arena, emphasizing the filling of dates in cartons that conform to environmental health standards, in addition to taking random samples of dates to the quality laboratory and assigning an initial committee specialized in examining Dates and their leveling.
It is noteworthy that two periods were approved to organize the auction during weekdays (Sunday-Wednesday morning and Thursday-Saturday evening), with the implementation of a number of activities and programs accompanying the auction.
