Her studies dealt with the role of sport in advancing the development of women in the Gulf

Her Excellency Sheikha Hessa bint Khalid Al Khalifa, Member of the Board of Directors of the Bahrain Olympic Committee and Chairperson of the Women’s Committee of the Bahrain Football Association, received a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Sports Business Administration from Loughborough University in the United Kingdom.

Her Excellency recently discussed the thesis she prepared entitled: “Gulf Change: Women, Sports and Development in the Arabian Gulf”, as part of the requirements for obtaining a PhD in Sports Business Administration from Loughborough University in Britain, which for the past six years has ranked first in the world in sports-related disciplines, This is according to (QS) Indicators, the leading global institution in the field of higher education.

On this occasion, Her Excellency Dr. Sheikha Hessa bint Khalid Al Khalifa dedicated this outstanding academic achievement to her honorable parents and family members, and to all members of the sports family in the Kingdom of Bahrain and the Arabian Gulf, expressing her thanks to all who supported and encouraged her to continue her educational path to obtain this high academic degree.

Her Excellency affirmed that all efforts will continue to be made to advance women’s sports in the Kingdom of Bahrain academically and practically, for the benefit and benefit of women’s sports in the region in general, in which women have proven their ability to achieve achievements, not only at the local level, but also at the regional and international levels as well. , which had a great impact on the Bahraini sports woman being a key partner in contributing to the comprehensive development process that the Kingdom is witnessing under the leadership of His Majesty the King of the Great Country, may God protect him, and in keeping with the plans and programs of the government headed by His Royal Highness, the Crown Prince, the Prime Minister, may God protect him. And for the national policies that are supervised by the Supreme Council for Women headed by Her Royal Highness, the wife of the King of the Great Country, may God protect her.

Her Excellency explained that as a matter of transferring knowledge and exchanging experiences, she will work to inform the relevant authorities of the results of the study, with the aim of implementing its recommendations in a way that enriches the experience of the Kingdom of Bahrain and the region in the field of women’s sports with more opportunities that enhance the role of sport in promoting the development of women’s sports. Gulf women.

The study, prepared by Her Excellency Dr. Sheikha Hessa bint Khalid, focused on the use of sport to achieve development and peace, and how to present effective initiatives targeting women in the region, through an in-depth exploration of the programs implemented in the Kingdom of Bahrain, the State of Kuwait and the United Arab Emirates, and a comparison of practices related to social issues. The most influential in the region and its women in terms of sports.

The study also aimed to bridge the knowledge gap that relatively surrounds the region with regard to looking at sports as a mainstay for achieving development and peace in our societies.

This study comes at an appropriate time, especially with the increasing interest of the Kingdom and the countries of the region in the United Nations Millennium Development Goals 2030, which calls for employing sport to achieve social goals, which makes this study important for decision-makers, policy-makers and competent bodies to support national efforts aimed at Implementation of sustainable development goals in the long term.

It is noteworthy that Her Excellency Dr. Sheikha Hessa bint Khaled holds a Bachelor of Science in Management from Bentley University in the state of Massachusetts in the United States of America. She also holds a Master’s degree in Business Administration from DePaul University, Chicago, in the United States of America, and a Master of Science in Human Resources from the same university.
