solidarity. The Villefranchois Tom Cros has launched a sacred sporting and solidarity challenge. Cycle 1,200 km between Roscoff (Brittany) and Hendaye (Basque Country) while raising funds for research and new treatments against cystic fibrosis. An online kitty is launched.

A few days before the big start, Tom Cros is finalizing the final preparations. Admittedly, the revision of the “bike” is not yet finished, but it will be operational on D-Day. And it won’t be too long since the first pedal strokes of this sporting and solidarity challenge are scheduled for September 12 at departure from Roscoff (Finistère), for a journey of more than 1,200 km on the Vélodyssée which crosses Brittany and runs along the Atlantic to the Basque Coast. A major challenge for the 29-year-old Villefranchois, who wanted to associate a good cause with this sporting challenge, and more particularly the fight against cystic fibrosis: “Very good friends of mine had two children affected by this disease, one of whom died. We feel a little helpless in the face of this terrible disease, and I didn’t know how I could help them. So I thought of creating an online kitty to raise funds, and thus contribute my stone to the building in research against cystic fibrosis ” confides the future thirty-year-old, who has already raised more than €1,000 (on Cotizup) for this challenge: “It’s a good start. People, including my close circle, have been generous and touched by this adventure. Of the amount I will collect, only a tiny part (just over €150) will be used to finance the train journey. The rest will be entirely donated to the “Grégory Lemarchal” association. Thanks to research, the average life of people with cystic fibrosis has increased in recent years.”

A hundred kilometers a day

If the starting signal is scheduled for September 12, Tom will take the train the day before to reach Brittany. Already, a first stage awaits it, with several station changes and connections on the program. Before getting on the bike, and starting his journey for a hundred kilometers every day, knowing that the arrival in the Basque Country is scheduled around September 25: “This will be the first time that I take the train, the first time that I go to Brittany, which has always attracted me… And the first time that I do such a long challenge. “But nothing really insurmountable for this crossfit buff, who frequents the Villefranchoise gym daily,”even twice a day when I have a little free time “.”It is a very complete sport, focused on surpassing oneself. And then, it’s one of the only individual disciplines that keeps a collective spirit. I will also take the opportunity to make several stops in the various establishments that will be on my route.”

After doing a few Sunday outings to perfect his physical condition, Tom expects “nice meeting “all along this popular route, in the middle”beautiful landscapes “.”Honestly, the thing that scares me the most is the saddle. But the body gets used to it quickly… Afterwards, I can’t wait to see how I’ll react when I experience a few glitches. This is also why I wanted to leave alone “. A journey that we can of course follow on Tom’s social networks, who will try to feed them on a daily basis. In the meantime, those who wish to follow him in this adventure can participate in the online kitty on Cotizup (www.cotizup.com/les1277kmdevelocontrelamuco) which will end early next month.
