Flordelis is sentenced to 50 years in prison for the murder of her husband – Country

Former congresswoman Flordelis was sentenced to 50 years and 28 days in prison for the death of her husband, Pastor Anderson do Carmo. The trial ended on Sunday (13).

Anderson do Carmo was shot dead at the family home in 2019 and Flordelis was denounced as the mastermind behind the murder. The Jury Court found the former deputy and her biological daughter Simone dos Santos guilty of orchestrating the pastor’s death.

Simone dos Santos was sentenced to 31 years in prison. The affective children Marzy Teixeira da Silva, André Luiz de Oliveira and granddaughter Rayane dos Santos Oliveira were acquitted of all crimes.

The sentences were handed down by Judge Neris dos Santos Carvalho Arce after 6 days of trial and just over three years after the crime. Relatives of the ex-deputy who were accompanying the trial were in despair while reading the document. Flordelis has been in prison since August 13, 2021.

In testimony last Saturday (12), Flordelis had denied the crime and linked the pastor’s death to alleged abuse she suffered at home.

Between sobs and crying, Flordelis told details about alleged aggression and abuse committed during sex. “He beat me. Some children entered the front. He only stopped hitting me when a pastor who was a friend of his took me out of the room and started to talk to him alone (…) Then he became aggressive again, in the sexual area. He only felt pleasure if he hurt me – and he did. He only came to blows if he hurt me.”

Despite her husband’s abuse, Flordelis says she “died together” with Anderson. “Half of Flordelis died together. I died together.” Crying, she said she doesn’t have to pay for anyone’s mistakes and once again reinforced her innocence.

“I don’t have to pay for anyone’s mistakes. I’ve been paying for something I haven’t done for three years. I am being called the mastermind of the murder of the person I loved most in this life.”

Flordelis was responsible for triple-qualified homicide, attempted murder, use of a false document and armed criminal association. Marzy, André and Simone were charged with triple qualified homicide, attempted murder and armed criminal association; and Rayane, for triple qualified homicide and armed criminal association.
