The presenter and journalist of Globo, Glória Maria, died today, this Thursday (02).

The latest information shows that Glória Maria was hospitalized to treat cancer, and she had been off the air on TV for months. This disease had been in her life for a while, but according to G1, the cause of death has not yet been disclosed.

At the end of 2022, Glória Maria was hospitalized again to treat the tumor, but at the time, the condition was stable and she did not show any worsening in her health.

In 2019, Glória Maria took a leave of absence to treat a brain tumor. At the time, the health problem was discovered after the journalist felt bad and underwent an MRI.

The Globo journalist underwent emergency surgery to remove an ‘expansive brain lesion’ at the Copa Star Hospital, located in Rio de Janeiro.

In March 2022, Glória Maria gave an interview to Roda Viva da Cultura, and said she was hopeful in the treatment of cancer and did not think about death

“I didn’t think about the end for a second. I’m alive, with a terrible brain tumor that, if I hadn’t discovered it, would have killed me in 15 days. This tumor formed an edema around it and became inflamed, causing me to have a seizure”, she began.

And continued: “I had a 30% or 40% chance of surviving and only a 20% chance of not having sequelae. Human beings want to live in a pink, cloud-blue world, but life is not like that. Life is made of pink and gray clouds and I learned to live with it”.

OVER 40 YEARS OF HISTORY

At Globo since 1971, Glória Maria was the first reporter to appear live and in color on Jornal Nacional. His debut as a reporter was in the same year, covering the collapse of Elevado Paulo de Frontin, in Rio de Janeiro. “Who taught me everything, to hold the microphone, to speak, was Orlando Moreira, the first cinematographic reporter I worked with”, declared in an interview with Globo.

From 1998 to 2007, he presented Fantástico and, since 2010, he joined the Globo Repórter team. In her curriculum, scoops, exclusive interviews and names marked in history made Gloria Maria’s career.
