Today, Wednesday, the search engine “Google” celebrates the Egyptian writer and journalist Ihsan Abdel Quddous, by changing its logo on the home page to the image of the writer by converting it into a cartoon form, a feature that was launched for the first time in 1998, in celebration of a specific occasion whose details appear when you click on it. .

The search engine “Google” revealed the reason for the celebration of Abdel Quddous, on the occasion of the release of the first English translation of his novel “I Don’t Sleep”, more than 70 years after it was written in the fifties of the last century.

The novel is the most famous and widespread work of the late, in which Abd al-Quddous tries to analyze and explain what is happening within the human psyche in terms of feelings and concerns and the consequent actions, focusing on analyzing the psyche of women.

In the novel, Abd al-Quddous tells the story of a girl whose love for her father pushes her to commit all sins, until the punishment was the same as her act and caused the destruction of her happiness and her father’s happiness in the end.

It is noteworthy that “Google” celebrated a group of brilliant names in the Arab world, including writers, writers, painters, sculptors, philosophers, artists and others, including: Nizar Qabbani, Gibran Khalil Gibran, Ahmed Shawky, Taha Hussein, Naguib Mahfouz, Umm Kulthum, Abdel Halim Hafez. Who is Ihsan Abdel Quddous?

Quddous was born in Cairo on January 1, 1919, and graduated from the Faculty of Law. However, his field of work was in journalism, during which he covered a number of events, in addition to his contributions to opinion articles through which he expressed his thoughts on social issues.

The late was imprisoned several times, due to the strong political opinions he expressed during his work, and he was dubbed “the locomotive of corruption,” and he was also subjected to numerous assassination attempts.

Quddous, who died in 1990 of a stroke, wrote more than 60 novels and short stories that explore many taboo topics such as politics, class, corruption, social behaviour, spirituality, religion and love.

Many of his fictional works were turned into films, which left a deep and influential imprint on Egyptian and Arab cinema and popular culture.

Ihsan Abdel Quddous also received many awards, including: the first prize for “My Blood, My Tears, My Smile” and the best screenplay for “The Bullet is Still in My Pocket”, the Order of Merit of the first degree from the President, and shortly after his death the Medal of the Republic of the first degree .
