Mystery and conflicting information still surrounds the fate of the head of the Revolutionary Court in Tehran, known as the “execution judge,” Abu al-Qasim Salawati. The official Iranian website, Quds Online, reported that the head of the fifteenth branch of the Revolutionary Court, Abu al-Qasim Salawati, was assassinated late in the evening (Thursday) while in the Niavaran neighborhood, north of Tehran. He pointed out that gunmen shot the judge, who was hit with two bullets in the skull and 4 bullets in other parts of his body.

However, the site deleted the news minutes later and replaced it with a tweet by the CEO of the Judicial News Agency, Mizan News, in which he denied the matter, stressing that my prayers are safe and well, and he himself knew of the rumor of his assassination after my call. Tehran officials were deeply shocked by the news that Salawati had been assassinated, which prompted the official media to deny this news, and the Tasnim news agency of the Revolutionary Guard quickly denied the “assassination.”

The news of Salawati’s assassination spread on the Internet and social media, and social media users talked about the death of a famous judge in the Niavaran district, north of Tehran.

Salawati is currently under sanctions from the United States and the European Union for widespread and serious violations of the rights of Iranians, due to his death and death sentences.

No information about his biography was reported in the Iranian media, except that his son-in-law Dariush Sherry, nicknamed “Korish Khan”, said earlier that he has a daughter and a son, and his house is located on Zafar Street in Tehran, and is guarded by 7 guards, and he has two personal weapons, and land in Kermanshah He has rented a home for his two children, and Kourosh Cohn said Salawati is “proud” of the executions he has carried out and made known to himself and his family.

According to the Coalition Against Nuclear Iran, it is not known whether Salawati has a law degree or whether his real name is Abul-Qasim Salawati.

“Salawati is known as the death penalty judge, and it is clear that he knows nothing about the law,” said Rad Sanjabi, former executive director of the Iranian Human Rights Documentation Center.

While the United for Iran organization reported that Salawati worked in the Basij forces of the Revolutionary Guards during the Iran-Iraq war and was injured, and joined the judicial police of the Kurdistan region in 1988, and assumed the position of public prosecutor and judge in the city of Sanandaj in 1990.
