Theories about the mysterious character of Adar

In the third episode, the Elves who were in charge of protecting the Southern Lands find themselves prisoners of the orcs, forced to dig trenches. As Arondir wonders about a way to escape, his comrade Medhor informs him of the existence of a new leader, Adar, whom the orcs “ almost worship him and try at all costs to please him. “ If they’re able to do that, that means Morgoth has a successor. » mentions the worried Elf.

Adar is an Elvish name (meaning “father”), which questions the protagonists. Could the new evil character be an Elf who has strayed from the side of good? Some speculate that it could be Sauron, but the most convincing theory remains that of a new servant of Sauron, who would be one of the big villains of this season.

Either way, it’s clear that Adar is the leader of the orcs. In Peter Jackson’s films, orcs are defined by Saruman as Elves who have been corrupted — in Tolkien’s work, however, the possibilities of the origin of orcs are wider, although the Elvish question is not entirely ruled out .

The first images of Adar

It is only at the very end of the episode that a silhouette is finally shown to us, that of a male character with the light airs of the villain marvelian Loki, who walks slowly towards the camera, but his face remains blurred.

His body type could confirm that he is actor Joseph Mawle, who was cast two years ago to be a “villain in the Rings of Power”. Series fans will have recognized it in Game Of Thronesplaying Benjen Stark, Jon Snow’s uncle.

As Mashable noted, when Amazon searched for the perfect actor to play Adar, here’s how his role was described: A villain who evokes both a sense of pathos and a wounded or fragile nobility. It should look middle-aged, but project a sense of timelessness. »

These oxymorons show the complexity sought for the character and seem to confirm the elven aspect of Adar.
