Wednesday is the latest live-action adaptation of The Addams Family franchise which arrived on Netflix on November 23, 2022. As director, Tim Burton wanted to make sure this new series didn’t would not be confused with a remake or a reboot, but a spinoff that focuses on a whole new chapter in Wednesday’s life as she comes of age. The main members of the Addams Family are all well known and beloved, based on the original Charles Addams characters. However, this version of Wednesday is much older than the last time we saw her as Christina Ricci. Now that Wednesday is old enough to go to high school, there are bound to be new faces in her life, be they friends or foes.

Jenna Ortega: Wednesday Addams
The young queen Jenna Ortega plays the main character. We could see her recently in the last film Scream, as well as in the horror film X of A24. She dons the shiny black shoes of Wednesday Addams as she embarks on an adventure at her brand new high school, Nevermore Academy. Now older and at that age when a girl has only one thing on her mind (murder), Wednesday has to do in the face of latent psychic abilitiesto a killer monster and, worst of all, to other people. Surrounded by “peers who will understand her,” as Morticia puts it in the trailer, it’s only a matter of time before Wednesday makes a friend, right?
Catherine Zeta-Jones: Morticia Addams
Catherine Zeta-Jones (Chicago) takes on the role of Morticia, Wednesday’s glamorous, gothic mother. Morticia seems to have a closer relationship with her daughter than Gomez, who usually pays more attention to their son, Pugsley. That said, they are both loving parents who want the worst (well, the best) for their daughter. Morticia, who met her husband Gomez at Nevermore, has fond memories of her time at the academy, where she was at top of the social hierarchy of this eccentric school.
Luis GuzmanGomez Addams
Gomez, the Addams Family patriarch, is played by Luis Guzmán. Deeply in love with his wife Morticia, Gomez is a eccentric rowdy in nearly every version of the macabre family. Guzmán is a very familiar face to film and television audiences, having played many memorable roles over his 40+ year career. It is also seen frequently in films by directors Steven Soderbergh and Paul Thomas Anderson.
Christina RicciMarilyn Thornhill
It had been confirmed for some time that Christina Ricci, who played Wednesday in The Addams Family, will be involved in this series. She will play a character named Marilyn Thornhill and is credited for all eight episodes of the season. Before her character was officially introduced in the latest trailer, the only hint Ricci gave was that she wouldn’t be playing an older version of Wednesday.
Now, it looks like his character could be a guidance counselor or other authority figure at Nevermore Academy. The question remains… will his character be involved in the mystery that Wednesday is about to solve?
Isaac Ordonez as Pugsley Addams
Pugsley is Wednesday’s younger brother and is played by Isaac Ordonez. He should appear in 2 of the 8 episodes, his character will therefore probably not have a leading role in the series. In other versions of The Addams Family, Pugsley and Wednesday spend most of their time trying to kill each other in a good mood. In the series, they have a more developed dynamic, with Wednesday being quite protective of her little brother.
Gwendoline Christie as Larissa Weems
Larissa Weems is here the director of the Nevermore Academy. She is seen showing Wednesday and her parents around the school campus, explaining that Nevermore was created to be a “safe haven where our children can learn and grow, no matter who or what they are”. Her character is portrayed by Gwendoline Ritchie, who is best known for her role as Brienne of Tarth in the HBO series Game of Thrones. Weems and Wednesday are likely to clash throughout the series.
Emma Myers: Enid Sinclair
Enid Sinclair is played by Emma Myers. Will Enid become Wednesday’s friend or foe? Her character can be seen sporting blonde hair with colored highlights. The character is clearly set up to be Wednesday’s rival, with hints of a triangle love between Bianca, Mercredi and Xavier, Bianca’s ex.
Hunter DoohanTyler Galpin
Tyler is played by Hunter Doohan. It’s also the son of Sheriff Donovan Galpin, played by Jamie McShane, which will likely come in handy over the course of the series. This isn’t to say that just running next to Wednesday immediately means they’ve teamed up, but that seems to be the case in the trailer clip. Unlike most other characters, Tyler is a normal human who lives in Jericho County, where Nevermore is located. He’s also “one hell of a barista,” according to Doohan.
Percy Hynes White: Xavier Thorpe
Percy Hynes White stars as Xavier Thorpe, another of Wednesday’s new classmates at Nevermore Academy. In the trailer, he is seen sitting next to her as she crushes a giant black spider that has come to life from a sketchbook. He is a medium artist who has the ability to bring his drawings to life. Was the spider crawling towards her a threat? Will Xavier befriend Wednesday or try to intimidate him before learning hard lessons from his hands? Like Bianca, Xavier is one of the most popular kids in the academy, giving him a sense of entitlement that Wednesday is sure to crush. There are hints of a potential romance between the two characters, but we’ll have to wait and see how far that goes.
Riki Lindhome: Dr. Valerie Kinbott
Dr. Kinbott is played by Riki Lindhome. Lindhome is a well-known face in the comedy world, though she’s perhaps best known for her portrayal of Donna Thrombey in Knives Out, as well as her villainous role as Sadie in the 2009 remake of The Last House on Earth. left. We don’t see her in the trailer, but we can tell that she is employed at Nevermore Academy as an intern… which will certainly be necessary given the composition of the student body.
Victor Dorobantu: The Thing
Of course, the Thing doesn’t have a face to assign to the actor, but it seems to be playing an important role in the upcoming Wednesday series. Even without any lines, the Thing still brings comedic moments in the movies and will no doubt continue to do so on the show. It’s no easy task to endear your character to audiences when all he has at his disposal is… a disembodied hand. Romanian actor and magician Victor Dorobantu has stepped up for the role, and we’ll see if his magic skills come into play. Tim Burton would have intended to have the Thing played by an actor rather than using computer-generated images.
Fred Armisen: Uncle Fetid
The laws mean nothing to Fester Addams, Gomez’s brother and Wednesday’s beloved uncle, who appears to be something of a bank robber on the show based on Netflix’s description of his character. Despite his eccentric and bizarre nature, Fester is a master of the dark arts who is always there to lend a hand See you on Wednesday.
