On Saturday morning, the local television station Teletica TV reported that several pieces of debris were discovered during the search for the missing small plane off Costa Rica with five German passengers on board. About 28 kilometers from Puerto Limón airport on the east coast, parts of a fuselage, seats and an empty bag were sighted. So far, however, there is no sign of the aircraft occupants, said Deputy Minister for Public Safety Martin Arias.

In addition to Rainer Schaller, his partner Christiane Schikorsky with her children Finja Schikorsky and Aaron Schaller and another person named Marcus Kurreck are said to have been on board the machine. According to Teletica, the machine should be controlled by a Swiss pilot with the surname Lips.

Communication with the machine was broken around 6 p.m. (local time) – early Saturday morning at 2 a.m. German time – Costa Rica’s Ministry of Public Security had previously announced.
