The works meetings of A1 Telekom Austria have decided on a one-hour warning strike for Tuesday.

The KV negotiations with A1 Telekom Austria were interrupted without result after the fifth round on Monday. At the works meetings announced for Tuesday, the workforce decided on a one-hour warning strike. The works meetings were interrupted from 11:00 a.m., according to a broadcast from the postal and telecommunications workers’ union.

Offer according to union “insufficient”

The ÖGB gave the go-ahead for the strike on Monday afternoon. The reason for this is the previously unsatisfactory offers made by the A1 Telekom board to the union’s negotiating team. The last offer would have included a monthly cost-of-living premium of 200 euros from January to September. There would only have been an increase in the KV and actual salaries from September 2023. This would have been an increase of 5 percent plus 85 euros on the pay scale.

“The observation period for the rolling inflation for the negotiations, however, is 6.9 percent. The present offer would therefore mean a sustained loss of real wages for a large part of the A1 Telekom workforce,” says the union. The 10,000 employees of Telekom Austria are affected.

Next round of negotiations on December 6th.

The warning strikes will probably take place without any major disruption to customers. If it is at the next round of negotiations on 06.12. If there is no significant improvement in the offer from the Board of Management, further trade union measures are planned.
