The Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) recommends drivers to plan their trips in advance because there could be delays along the Wasatch Front this Friday and Monday due to heavy traffic over Memorial Day Weekend.

Through a statement, UDOT gave a list of roads that will present more delays, due to the increase in traffic, but some roads that are being fixed will open them. In any case, it is important that they take alternative routes.

The following delays beyond typical highway travel times are expected for your consideration:

  • I-15 southbound in county Salt Lake: Delays of up to 20 minutes on Friday, May 26, from 2:00 to 7:00 pm
  • I-15 southbound near nephi: delays of up to 10 minutes on Friday, May 26, from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
  • I-15 northbound in county Davis: delays of up to 10 minutes on Friday, May 26, from 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
  • I-15 heading north near Nephi: delays of up to 15 minutes on Monday, May 29, from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
  • US-6 heading west on Spanish Fork Canyon: Delays of up to 20 minutes on Monday, May 29, from 12:00 noon to 4:00 pm

On the other side of the state, most UDOT projects they will suspend construction and open all lanes to traffic to help reduce delays during Memorial Day weekend which will be from Friday May 26 to Monday May 29.

It is important to mention that UDOT added that in some work areas the restrictions will continue during the long weekend, since it is necessary to guarantee the safety of drivers.
