A bus with about 30 Boca Juniors fans overturned on Wednesday near Mendoza, in eastern Argentina, leaving one person dead. There are several injured, but not seriously, according to the Argentine press. The group was going to follow the game against Quilmes, for the quarterfinals of the Copa Argentina.
The accident happened on National Route 7, 40 kilometers from Mendoza. The bus had a problem with the left front tire, which exploded. The vehicle crossed the lane and stopped in the opposite direction. The fan who died in the tragedy was Paola Emilse Fleitas, 32 years old.

In a statement, Boca Juniors mourned the tragedy and death of Paola, who was a member of the club. The game for the Copa Argentina will not be postponed. The Xeneize team will enter with a mourning armband on their shirtsleeves and there will be a minute of silence.

According to the TyC Sports channel, the Boca Juniors squad is shaken by the accident. Several ambulances and the mayor of Mendoza, Raúl Ruffeil, went to the scene to assist in the rescue.
Among the injured are a pregnant woman and two children. Most of them went to Perrupato Hospital and two went to Lagomaggiore Hospital. Representatives of Boca Juniors accompany the victims. An investigation must be initiated to determine the reason for the accident.
– The driver will be arrested and suspected of manslaughter. There is a difference in the passenger list – said the prosecutor responsible for the case, Oscar Sívori.
Boca Juniors and Quilmes face each other at the Malvinas Argentinas stadium, for the quarterfinals of the Copa Argentina, this Wednesday. If they advance, the Xeneize team can face River Plate in the semifinals. Marcelo Gallardo’s team faces the Patronato.
