Drug lord Flor Bressers landed in Belgium after surrender from Switzerland: this is what he looks like today | Inland

Drug lord Flor Bressers has been extradited to our country. He just landed on Belgian soil, from there it goes by helicopter to an as yet unspecified prison. The top criminal previously tried to challenge his surrender to Belgium from Switzerland, but failed.

The Limburg drug lord Flor Bressers was arrested in February in a luxury flat in the Renaissance tower in Zurich, where he had gone into hiding. De Limburger, who has a university degree in criminology, had already been on the list of Most Wanted criminals for almost a year. He is suspected of being the leader in large-scale drug smuggling.

Since his arrest, the criminal has been in a Swiss cell, awaiting extradition to our country. He challenged it at the Federal Criminal Court in Switzerland, but without success. The arguments cited are noteworthy. The drug lord owes one of his nicknames to a story about clipping phalanges with pruning shears, but in his fight against extradition referred to a report by the European Committee for the Prevention of Torture. This includes criticism of the Belgian authorities for overcrowding in the prisons, and because there are regular strikes.

Dutch florist

Bressers was sentenced in 2020 to four years in prison for the kidnapping and assault of a Dutch florist. He had lost a 40 kg shipment of heroin to British customs. Due to this conviction, the Limburger was put on the Most Wanted list. In mid-February 2022, Bressers ran into the light in Zurich. He has been in prison there ever since. Until now.

Cocaine smuggling

Bressers is also one of the main suspects in the Bruges drug investigation into the Kriva Rochem company. That Antwerp company hid tons of cocaine between loads of manganese ore and imported it to the Netherlands. The cocaine smuggling came to light when the Dutch police were able to crack the super-secure Encrochat communication system. Reports surfaced there of ‘Bongoking’, the pseudonym Bressers then used to communicate with other suspects.

He is also under investigation in Dendermonde, because he allegedly smuggled cocaine into Moldova with the help of the Belgian honorary consul. The drugs were hidden in containers with rice that had been sent from Suriname. The customs authorities in Antwerp intercepted five containers with a mixed load of rice and drugs in October last year. The Surinamese rice trader was liquidated three months later in Guyana. He was killed with one bullet to his forehead.

Bressers’ name also falls in Antwerp drug investigations, where he is mentioned in the same breath as the Dutch drug lord Bolle Jos.

From Quickenborne

Bressers recently made himself heard when he announced through his lawyers that he had “nothing to do” with the attempted kidnapping of Justice Minister Vincent Van Quickenborne (Open Vld). He was regarded by foreigners as one of the possible commissioners for the minister’s kidnapping. “Mr Bressers has been in Swiss detention for seven months now. It is therefore completely impossible for him to order such action or be otherwise involved in it,” the Belgian and Dutch lawyers of Bressers said in a statement.
