Serious accident at Christmas Circus Haarlem in Reinaldapark; circus artist seriously injured after fall from a great height

During a performance of the Christmas Circus Haarlem in the Reinaldapark, a person was seriously injured on Wednesday evening. A circus artist has fallen from a great height, the police confirm.

The accident happened at about 8:45 p.m. There were about a thousand spectators in the circus tent at the time. The police, fire brigade, ambulance service and a trauma team were urgently called. The circus tent was immediately evacuated and those present were asked to leave the site.

It is not yet known how the accident happened. In the circus, several acts were at a height. The victim is part of the group Mustafa Danguir Troupe and took part in a stunt with the Wheel of Death, in which eight performers spin at height. The group performs more spectacular stunts, such as a human pyramid on a taut wire.

Injuries

The victim was rushed to hospital. The condition of the victim and how serious the injuries are is not clear, the spokesman said. The artist is conscious, the circus reports in a statement on Facebook. “The fallen artist is getting all the help he needs right now and our crew sympathizes, as do you, our heartwarming audience.” This risk is part of the circus, it continues. “However, we offer our sincere apologies for this unfortunate event that you unfortunately witnessed.”

Spectators

“Among the thousand spectators there were also a lot of children who saw this person fall down,” said the police spokesperson. ,, This is very intense to see, so from the police we advise to contact the doctor if they get complaints after this. Victim Support is also available.

The Haarlem Christmas Circus, including Hans Klok, has settled in the park from December 22 to January 8. The performances of the coming days will continue according to schedule, let the circus know.
