Miguel Oliveira has already commented on the incident that prevented him from discussing the first MotoGP Grand Prix of 2023, in Portimão, having stated that after analyzing the images, the accident is easy to explain. The Portuguese attributed the incident to an error by Marc Márquez, who meanwhile received a two-lap long penalty for the Argentine GP for ultra-aggressive driving and for having caused the accident with Oliveira.

“Only after seeing all the images did I fully understand. It was a little strange, but Márquez launched too early to try to reach a leading position. But it was the wrong time to pull”, said Miguel Oliveira, first in Italian , repeating in Portuguese and finally in English.

“The incident is quite easy to explain. It was an ambitious attempt to overtake, with no room to stop. He still avoided Jorge Martin, but then he came up to me. At the medical center he told me about a technical problem. But when you have problems on the brakes, you brake before and not after”, explains the Portuguese, who accepted the apology.

“There is an apology that I always respect. These situations are not intentional”, he said.

“It’s even more frustrating when we know we can get a good result. I led the opening lap and had room to improve once the tires came up to temperature. It was too inglorious to finish the race so early after all the expectations generated”.

Miguel Oliveira believes that the Argentine GP is not at risk, despite the pain.
“The objective is to arrive in Argentina as well as possible. Without a disabling injury, it is to manage the pain with anti-inflammatory treatment. For now I’m just sore.”

“It’s only the first race, but I’m still optimistic. I’m riding well and getting to grips with the bike.”
