Fatal accident with Dutch people on German highway

It had recently rained heavily and there was a lot of water on the road. A spokesman for the German police says that there has probably been aquaplaning, where the tires lose grip on the wet road surface.

One of the other two drivers, a 39-year-old Dutchman, saw it happen and stopped to offer help, but at that moment the 56-year-old driver of the third Porsche, a 911, also lost control of the wheel on the same stretch of road .

As a result, the female passenger (37) of the Porsche that had crashed first and the man who tried to help were killed instantly. The drivers later succumbed, one in the trauma helicopter and one in hospital. A passenger was injured.

The road was littered with debris

The A3 to Cologne is closed until the beginning of the evening due to the investigation of traces and the clearing of the debris.

A police spokesman told the newspaper that the accident may have occurred because the cars had not adjusted their speed to the water on the road. The Porsches are believed to have been part of a group, but there is no indication that they were engaged in a street race. There are also no indications of alcohol or drug use.
